Who would do this to him? I hope whoever did it is caught and punished.
I doubt it was anyone who knows him, probably just some dirt bags from around that area.
Ill do my best to make it out on the 9th. Stephen deserves everyones support!

There's no cover charge for this event, but I encourage everyone to donate at the door when they come in.
It's a big hit to take on the start of the year, and I know Stephen has big plans for us all 2009.

i dont have facebook....can you post what got jacked and the fundraiser info?
When did AM get broken into?
shitty deals Stephen...sorry that it happend...
Shouldnt half the things or even most be covered through insurance?
Taken from the event page.
On Sunday, January 4th, Stephen Hua's afterhours spot, "AM," was broken into and as a result, he incurred a loss of thousands of dollars in sound equipment as well as a chunk of cash.
It is sad that this had to happen and it's really a terrible way for Stephen to start this promising new year.
As many of you already know, Stephen is an amazing human being and I am proud to call him no less then my brother. He always helps where he can and his biggest contribution to date has been what he has done for us all in the Winnipeg club and event scene. For years now, he has put together events at every club and venue imaginable...even when he cuts a loss. His determination and loyalty to our scene is admirable and deserves recognition.
With this in mind, a few of us have decided to put together a fund raiser for Stephen as he was not insured for this loss. Everyone involved is donating their time and all that we ask is that you come and show some support this Friday at the EEC.
We have not put a cover charge on the night but we ask that you donate what you can at the door and anything will be appreciated.
We are proud and thankful for the dj's who have donated their time, music and skills to this event...DJ Diggs, DJ Hectic and DJ Alphagroove. All are fantastic at their craft and will provide the spectrum of sound needed for an amazing night.
*NOTE*
Anyone with information leading to the whereabouts of Stephen's equipment or information about the people involved will be rewarded $1000.
Here is a list of what was stolen :
1 - Pioneer DJM 600
2 - Pioneer CDJ 1000 MK3

Crappy deal... though I ask the question... no insurance? This is usually what business premises insurance/contents/alarms are for...
Shouldn't be a reason why a claim would be denied (other than taking forever)

I only have home insurance and nightclub insurance which unfortunately isnt going to cover anything stolen from AM (although my insurance guy is trying to find a loophole to help me out). Because AM wasnt a consistent or stable business, every month couldve been the last, I never thought to get insurance. I defintely wont make that mistake again thats for sure.

Especially in that area.. I want to assume it was some poor dirt bag who needed money, but I also wonder though.. it must have been someone that knew all the stuff was there and that there was no alarms, because from the outside it doesnt look much like a nightclub.
Anyways, good luck Stephen.. I hope some good things start coming your way, I know your going to be getting alot of support and help with this party :)

It should be obvious that a group of thieving punks did this, as they knew what was there and it would take a decent bit of work to get all of it out of the basement. Hopefully with all the support for Stephen, someone will hear something.
But lets not dwell on what happened, and look forward to friday to help Stephen kick off the year on a better foot.

Ask your agent about general business insurance (liability/contents), with a floater for venues and gear. You can probably give them a value of the gear, and then just provide (via letter/fax) a list of venues you use as neccessary, so when you move the equipment to a new venue you should still be covered.
We do this as we rent about 8 schools here in toronto where we store gear, the gear is stored under our blanket liability policy, while each new venue we add (more as permanent rentals) costs us about $100 each to re-insure on top of the normal policy. We usually leave about 15K of gear at each place anyway.
Anyway, sorry to hear about it. Insurance companies are trying to find every way to get out of paying claims, so it pays to pay the premium up front.

Myself, Diggs and Hectic.. this really isnt an electronica event persay, more tailored for the bar/club crowd (which Im pretty sure sold out the EEC on NYE).
But Diggs and I will be playing the clubby house we always do, and Hectic will appease the hip hop crowd. The original plan was to do both rooms (hiphop / house), not sure if thats changed or not.

Dude-" Hey man....just want to thank you for everything you've done this past year. Its really shitty what happened to you club."
So...this guy thinks im Stephen...i decide that im gonna play along.
Me- "Oh ya man..thanks for coming out and supporting. It means a lot to me...."(im trying to hold back the biggest grin on my face cuz Stephen is a foot away from me)
So his buddy turns around and says...."Hey umm...thats not Stephen yo....He's the guy beside him"
