Has anyone else had issues burning DVD's on your Macbook / Pro?
I've successfully burnt a couple DVD's in the past using iTunes... but when I've attempted to burn a data DVD i receive the following burn error: 0x8002006E
I've searched over many other message boards for a fix, however I've fed nothing but complaining about the issue, and non-solving fixes. It could be the media I'm using (Maxwell DVD-R 4.7GB). However, I just picked up a 25 spindle today and refuse to believe i just wasted my money.
Any other Mac users have any suggestions?

Toast is probably the best burning program i've ever used in my life.
like seriously. Did full copies of ps2 games including grabbing the hidden sectors, burnt almost everything i've ever burnt without buffer underruns or errors. Solid program.

riiight.
Hmm as a general rule i typically use memorex or verbaitim. see if changing type helps. If not your computer may need servicing.

Was it the discs?

seriously, apple drivers are notorious for rejecting disks. buy some singles and find out which it likes, or search apple.com/support for the same.

I doubt it... I just picked them up a few days ago. I'm gonna try taking my mac to a buddies and transfer some files onto the network and see if his burner works with the discs.

Thanks for the suggestions!
I spent a few hours on random mac message boards the other night trying to solve my problem... In my great search I did happen to find a list of different brands that worked well on different devices.
FFS, I'm pissed off! I paid like $2500 on this fucking computer and it wont burn a simple fucking cd.

yeah, sadly that's what happens with apple products, really it can happen with all computers. apple just being more expensive to fix. problem with apple is, this likely isn't covered under warranty as they "recommend" specific types of disk depending on your drive model.

If my disk drive is shot it'll be about 2 bills to fix... So the debate now is:
Do I shell out the cash and get it fixed,
or
Buy a 1T external HD?

You'll need the drive sooner or later...

Apple's drives are notoriously shitty. And slow. No clue why, they just are.

Or buy an external burner.
If you go the 1TB route, they sell external ones for about $140 on tigerdirect.ca I believe. Or ncix.com - can't remember , one of the two. Both of which have extremely competitive pricing and you should be buying all your computer shit there anyway.

Any hard drive will be compatible with mac if its formatted with mac journalling, or ntfs with NTFS for Mac software (http://www.paragon-software.com/home/ntfs-mac/download.html)
