Project Runway 2008
“Recreate”
Winnipeg’s search for the hottest designer!
I.C.E. Events and Promotions will be presenting the third year of Project Runway at The Exchange Event Centre (291 Bannatyne Avenue) Saturday nights March 8, 15, 22, 29, 2008. This event will be based on the Heidi Klum hit show, and will feature Winnipeg’s top designers.
Each week, the challengers will be given a task/theme to create and sew a garment, which will be showcased the following Saturday in a fashion show. They will also be given a set amount of money to purchase the necessary items to make the garment, which they must sew themselves. This year’s theme is “Recreate”, so all designers must use their allotted $20 to go to a vintage or second hand store, purchase their items, and recreate them according to the theme. All designers will be provided hair stylists and make up artists for each show, however, they will each be responsible for their own models. The designers’ piece will be scored on interpretation of theme, quality, marketability, and overall presentation. Scores will be accumulated weekly, and the winner will be decided based on the highest scores from the entire competition.
The winner of Project Runway 2008 will receive: $1000 cash, a feature article in the Winnipeg Free Press, the title of Project Runway 2008 Winner, a feature profile from Shaw TV, a year of tanning from Tan FX and a basket of fragrances from Perfume Paradise.
